It looks to me that the deadline for reporting a result is 24 hours after receipt of the WU. Could that be lengthened a bit or is there a reason it's so short?

I know that everything is supposed to work out in the long run, but having things run high priority when it's really not necessary isn't playing nice with others. :D

    Thanks,

    Mark

In general I agree. However, there are projects that have real world requirements where short deadlines are needed.

      1) If the results of this round feed the next round.
      2) Real publishing or competition deadlines.

Somewhat tighter deadlines may be useful in trying to debug problems.

However, in general, for short tasks about 10 days till deadline is considerate of the volunteers. For longer tasks at least 5X the expected processing time on the slowest machine is also appreciated. (I haven't gotten any tasks yet, so I don't know how these stack up in run time or required processing power).

                Hi Supraprime,

thank you for your message ... an old version of the work generator was running ...

I started the right one with one week deadlines ...

                Best regards

A longer deadline would mean more results in the database, thus bigger memory requirements, greater load. I think this is an issue too, especially with smaller projects with tight budget (here) and big projects (with a lager number of volunteers to feed, like Seti).

                    Regards,

                    Michael
